Building Heritage
Brimhall Construction Company, was founded by brothers Ted, Larry, and Darrell, in 1959. Their father, Joe Brimhall, having extensive construction experience, and being one of the first settlers of Harvest Valley, west of Taylor, knew there was good gravel in the area. The operation began there, but better gravel was found along the Cottonwood Wash in Snowflake, so the company later moved to their present location in 1964. The brothers did home building, commercial building, manufactured sand and rock for concrete and asphalt projects, and road base.
As growth in the White Mountains continued, the demand for more building grew. In 1973, Brimhall-Palmer Construction was created with Ted, the eldest brother, taking on a partner, to focus on residential and commercial building. In 1973, Larry and Darrell continued in aggregate materials, officially changing the name of Brimhall Construction to Brimhall Sand, Rock & Building Materials.
The late 1970's and early 1980's saw continued growth as the second generation of Brimhalls joined the company. The sons who chose to work in the company worked many years under the direction of their fathers learning the business, eventually purchasing the business from Larry and Darrell upon their retirement.
David Brimhall, the eldest son of Larry, has been working at BSR since 1974. He has a diversified knowledge of aggregate specifications, proper crushing and screening techniques, concrete and asphalt plant production, and is a master mechanic. He is now BSR's chief estimator.
Brian Brimhall, the eldest son of Darrell, has been working at BSR since 1977. He has a diversified knowledge of aggregate specifications, proper crushing and screening techniques, and concrete plant production. He is currently General Manager of Quality Ready Mix.
M. Kirk Brimhall, son of Larry, joined the BSR team after graduating from BYU in 1982 with a degree in Business Finance. The training he received helped the company continue to grow. His training in investments, risk management, and finance allowed for continued growth into asphalt production in 1989. He is currently General Manager of BSR.
Gary Brimhall, son of Darrell, joined the company in 1983. He has a wide-ranging knowledge of proper crushing and screening techniques and aggregate specifications. Gary, has been working on the Navajo reservation projects for most of his career and is now the Production and Sales Manager of the Hardluck Quarry operation at Indian Wells.
Keith Brimhall, son of Larry, joined BSR in 1980. He is a master mechanic as well as having extensive knowledge in residential building. From the mid 1990's to 2008, he led the residential building crew, during BSR's involvement in the construction of numerous homes and apartments including those in the Snowflake Golf Course sub division and Lyon Crest Apartments. He currently mechanics to keep the trucking fleets and equipment in proper working condition.
Kevin Brimhall, son of Larry, joined the company in 1990 after graduation from NAU with a Bachelor of Science. He has a varied knowledge of proper crushing and screening techniques and aggregate specifications. He currently mechanics to keep the trucking fleets and equipment in proper working condition.
